FIFA Ranking

FIFA ranking is the table of the football teams associated in FIFA. Currently, our ranking is presenting 208 countries from all over the world. In 2006, after the World Cup in Germany, a new point counting algorithm was introduced to be in force also today.

The number of points, which will be assigned after a played match, depends of:

• With what result did the match finish? (A win gives 3 points, draw 1 point and a defeat gives 0 points) - M
• How important was the match? (From the friendly matches to the World Cup) - I
• How strong was the opponent? (Which position does it occupy in the FIFA Ranking) - T
• From which continent comes the rival? (For example: European countries are usually stronger than Asian) - C

All the above mentioned factors are multiplied between them and give the number of points for a particular match - P

P = M * I * T * C * 100

The entire point number for a particular country is the average of the matches played in the last 4 years with a premium form the matches played recently. The matches played in the last 12 months have a 100% value and those from other years appropriately 50%, 30% and 20%.
